Total SA (NYSE:TOT), the French oil company, has recommenced production of natural gas and condensate from the Elgin-Franklin complex of fields in the U.K. North Sea, and expects to be producing about 70,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. The production at the complex had been shut down about a year ago due to a gas leak. The offshore safety regulator last week granted its permission for resumption of production. However, the company may have to drill new wells in the area to bring production back the level before the gas leak.
