Is This Former FuelBand Developer Working on Apple’s iWatch?
Rumors regarding Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) development of a wearable tech device got a boost recently after a former Nike (NYSE:NKE) consultant who helped to develop the FuelBand product confirmed that he is now working for Apple. In a tweet first reported by 9to5Mac, fitness expert Jay Blahnik acknowledged that he has indeed taken a job with the Cupertino-based company.
Mark Gurman at 9to5Mac previously reported a rumor that the well-known fitness guru would be helping Apple to develop the so-called “iWatch” and it now appears that his sources were correct. Although it is unknown what position Blahnik will have with Apple, the addition of a fitness expert to the iWatch team would make sense if the rumors about the health-monitoring features of the iWatch also prove to be true.
According to 9to5Mac’s insider sources, Apple has also hired medical sensor experts from AccuVein, C8 MediSensors, and Senseonics. All of these companies specialize in using non-invasive methods to take various types of health readings. This may indicate that Apple is planning on developing a wearable tech product that will have a health or fitness approach similar to Nike’s FuelBand.
