Is Ford in the Middle of a Comeback?

Ford Motor Co.’s (NYSE:F) China sales in April rose 24 percent to 54,881 units on the back of robust demand for the new Ford Focus.

However, this year to date, Ford has sold 176,274 vehicles in China, down 5 percent from the 184,906 units sold as of this time last year.

Sales rose 30 percent in April to 34,108 units at Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Co., Ford’s joint venture for manufacturing passenger vehicles with Chongqing Changan Automobile Co and Mazda Motor Co.

Commercial vehicles sold through its Jiangling Motors Corp. arm numbered 20,773 vehicles, up 16 percent over April 2011.
