Investors Lift Tech Stocks Ahead of Earnings Reports

TiVo, Inc. (NASDAQ:TIVO) will unveil its latest earnings on Thursday, February 23, 2012. The average estimate of analysts is for net loss of 25 cents per share, a narrower loss from the year-earlier quarter net loss of 30 cents. During the past three months, the average estimate has moved down from a loss of 22 cents. Between one and three months ago, the average estimate moved down. It has risen from a loss of 26 cents during the last month. For the year, analysts are projecting profit of 51 cents per share, a spike from a loss of 74 cents last year.

The company’s quarterly results have come in above estimates for the last three quarters. Last quarter, the company booked net loss of 21 cents per share versus a mean estimate of a loss of 23 cents per share. Analysts predict a rise of 22.8% in revenue from the year-earlier quarter to $50.8 million.

The average analyst estimate is for profit of 12 cents per share, a decline of 66.7% from the company’s actual earnings for the year-ago quarter. During the past three months, the average estimate has moved down from 18 cents. Between one and three months ago, the average estimate moved down. It also has dropped from 17 cents during the last month. Analysts are projecting profit to rise by 29.3% compared to last year’s $1.04.

Last quarter, the company met expectations by reporting net income of 35 cents per share last quarter. In the previous second quarter, the company beat estimates by one cent. Analysts are projecting a decline of 17.8% in revenue from the year-earlier quarter to $740.3 million.
