Intel INSPIRES TSMC to Invest and 4 Chip and Big Data Stocks on the Move

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC): Contract chip maker Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), is investing ¬838 million (US$1 billion) in Netherlands tools maker ASML to quicken the development of faster and more power-efficient chips while lowering manufacturing costs. The shares traded up $0.14 (0.51%) recently at $26.64.

Broadcom Corp. (NASDAQ:BRCM): A national NFC payment network is to launch in Singapore later this month, according to a telecom company working on the project, and reported by NFC World. The network will allow consumers to make purchases via NFC technology at over 20,000 points of sale in Singapore, the publication stated. The shares traded down $0.32 (0.93%) recently at $33.91.

QUALCOMM Incorporated (NASDAQ:QCOM): Smartphone apps processor revenues rose 55 percent to $2.47 billion during Q1, reports DigiTimes, citing Strategy Analytics. Qualcomm topped the market in both unit and revenue during Q1, bringing in a 44 percnet share of the total revenues. The shares traded down $0.03 (0.05%) recently at $61.31.

Rackspace Hosting, Inc. (NYSE:RAX) (RAX +8.52%) takes off after posting a decent Q2 report which featured increasing cash flow and healthy customer data. The company was also upgraded by Jefferies and Pac Crest in response. Jefferies believes that revenue growth will re-accelerate during 2013, fueled by demand for Rackspace’s just-launched OpenStack cloud infrastructure solutions. As of July 13, 14.8 percent of Rackspace’s float was shorted. The shares traded up $4.20 (8.52%) recently at $53.50.

Seagate Technology PLC (NASDAQ:STX), one of the two major players in the hard disk drive realm, is strong today, exhibiting great sales and earnings from the traditional hard disk drive business  However, concerns regarding the future of hard disk drives in the face of solid state technology are probably the reason for the incredibly low price-to-earnings of 4.94 as of last close.The shares traded up $0.65 (2.01%) recently at $33.24.
