Instagram Usage Drop Explained, Intel Partners with Hewlett-Packard: Tech Business Roundup
It seems that Instagram experienced a sharp drop in users on December 25th from which it has not yet rebounded, says AppData, a company which tracks app usage. However, the data represents only a portion of the overall usage of Instagram since it only tracks users logged in through Facebook (NASDAQ:FB). It is unnecessary to log in that way, so many users were thus not counted. Meanwhile, Instagram’s modification of its terms of service is being blamed by the New York Post, but that change began on December 17th and ended three day later.
The antenna-integrated radio product made by LM Ericsson Telephone Company (NASDAQ:ERIC), known as AIR, has been shipping in huge volumes this year, says analyst Gabriel brown at Heavy Reading. He estimates that in the fall, 2,000 units were being shipped per week. Launched in February of 2011, AIR unites two radio access network elements that are typically separate — the antenna and the radio unit — into one compact piece of equipment.

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) is set to work with Hewlett-Packard Co. (NYSE:HPQ), Quanta Computer, Lenovo, and Compal Electronics to introduce smart TVs in 2013, say component makers. In 2006, Intel and Microsoft ventured into the home entertainment market with the primary focus upon promoting the Windows Media Center Edition operating system. Meanwhile, for the past seven years, Intel has also been releasing related solutions, among which include IPTV set-top boxes, low-power processors for networked media players, interactive TVs and Google TV products, with its partners.
According to the tech blog 36kr, a company-wide e-mail by Sina Corporation (NASDAQ:SINA) Chief Executive Charles Chao previews his firm’s 2013 strategy which will center around a restructuring to permit it to concentrate on its mobile business. Additionally, Sina will reconfigure its strategy next year by dividing its business into two parts — one focusing on its Web portal and the other on Sina Weibo, its hugely popular microblogging service that boasts in excess of 400 million members.
