Imation Acquires Nexsan and 3 Hot Stocks to Notice Now
Wireless technology developer InterDigital Inc (NASDAQ:IDCC) reaches an agreement with Research in Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:RIMM), extending the term of their worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty bearing patent license agreement for a multi-year period. The patent license agreement is also amended to include 4G products such as LTE and LTE-Advanced products.
The United States appears to have regained its manufacturing muscle. Honda Motor Co (NYSE:HMC) plans to increase its vehicle exports from North America in the next couple of years and may even exceed its imports from Japan. Storage and data security company Imation Corp (NYSE:IMN) has acquired closely held Nexsan Corporation in a cash-and-stock transaction comprising $105 million in cash and 3.32 million common shares valued at about $15 million. Nexsan has approximately 11,000 customers which are mostly in the small and medium-size business and distributed enterprise storage markets. The acquisition will help Imation in its strategy to focus on these underserved sectors.
A key area of focus for Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) in 2013 would be to manage the political environment in Washington and particularly to ensure the upholding of net neutrality laws as well as to continue opposition to caps on bandwidth, says L.A. Biz. The company’s own political action committee, FLIXPAC, which earned its spurs recently helping amend the Video Privacy Protection Act, should be instrumental in this effort.
