The Federal Government and Ford Motor Co. are probing partial engine failures on some 725,000 recent-model vehicles that could cut engine power, often at highway speed. Affected are 2009 through 2011 models of Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner SUVs, Ford Fusion, and Mercury Milan sedans.

General Motors Company (NYSE:GM): Current price $26.66

The United States government has started selling their remaining General Motors stock as they move to end four years of partial ownership of the Detroit automaker. The Treasury Department said in their report to Congress that they sold $156.4 million worth of GM common stock last month. Details on the average share price will be revealed later, the Treasury said in the report.

Toyota Motor Corporation (NYSE:TM): Current price $100.85

Federal safety regulators are deciding if they will investigate a complaint that the steering can fail on the Toyota Prius. The government said, in documents, that an automotive laboratory in Virginia asked for the investigation after evaluating a client’s car. The probe could affect about 561,000 of the gas-electric hybrids from the 2004 through 2009 model years.

Honda Motor Co., Ltd. (NYSE:HMC): Current price $36.90

Honda Motor Co., Ltd. is moving their North American leadership from California to a major factory campus in Ohio. The Japanese automaker said that about 50 leadership and support jobs will move to Marysville, Ohio, near Columbus. Their American headquarters and about 2,500 workers will remain in Torrance, Calif., near Los Angeles.
