U.S. Cellular (NYSE:USM) will soon become the next major U.S. carrier to offer Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) new iPhones. According to an announcement posted on U.S. Cellular’s website on Friday, Apple’s iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C will become available from the nation’s fifth-largest carrier beginning on November 8.
The addition of the iPhones to U.S. Cellular’s device offerings brings the carrier in line with the four other top U.S. carriers. AT&T (NYSE:T), Sprint (NYSE:S), Verizon (NYSE:VZ), and T-Mobile (NYSE:TMUS) all already carry Apple’s iPhones.
Although the timing of the distribution deal was unknown, U.S. Cellular’s announcement was not completely unexpected since it had previously revealed in its first-quarter earnings report that it had plans to “begin offering Apple products later this year.” Although U.S. Cellular missed the September 20 launch weekend, strong ongoing iPhone sales at the other carriers suggest that U.S. Cellular will still see a significant sales bump from the addition of Apple’s latest smartphones.
