Stocks of Arena Pharmaceuticals, Inc (NASDAQ:ARNA), Gilead Sciences, Inc. (NASDAQ:GILD), Pharmacyclics, Inc. (NASDAQ:PCYC), Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated (NASDAQ:VRTX) and VIVUS, Inc. (NASDAQ:VVUS) all experienced a short interest increase of more than 9 percent between July 31st and August 15th, as short sellers continue to bet on biotech companies compared to the July 31 settlement date.
