Facebook (NASDAQ:FB): The company wants to learn even more about its members than it already does and has now begun purchasing information on its members from data brokers. Facebook plans to use this data, and information provided voluntarily by its members, to target them with more relevant advertisements. “We think that serving the right ads to the right people creates a better user experience on Facebook,” said Facebook spokeswoman Elisabeth Diana. Privacy activists feel threatened by Facebook’s interest in so much sensitive data. The Electronic Privacy Information Center, which is an online privacy watchdog, has requested that the U.S. Federal Trade Commission investigate Facebook’s use of this data, Boston Globe said.
