Google’s (NASDAQ:GOOG) Nexus 7 has found another external retailer after the company announced office products seller Staples (NASDAQ:SPLS) is now taking pre-orders for the new tablet. Pre-sales for the device have started at Staples stores across the nation, as well as through its website.

The 8 GB and 16 GB versions of the tablet will be available for $199 and $249, respectively, and Staples is offering free shipping. Orders made by Wednesday will be delivered starting Thursday and no later than July 17. The Nexus 7 will also be available for sale at Staples stores later this month, although no specific date was provided. The retailer also plans to hold live demonstrations of the tablet at several store locations.
The Nexus 7, announced last month at Google’s developer conference, is already available for preorders through the online Google Play store for the same price. The 16 GB version of the tablet can also be pre-ordered from GameStop (NYSE:GME) for $249 with free shipping. The video game retailer is also offering discounts on the tablet when customers trade in video games, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) mobile products, or select other Android devices.
The Nexus 7 runs Jelly Bean, which is Android’s newest version, sports a 1,280×800 pixel HD display, includes an Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) Tegra 3 quad-core processor, and has a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera.
