Google May Target Microsoft’s Surface Pro With This New Device
The two companies now have more angles to compete at than ever, with smartphones, tablets, laptops, search engines, VoIP services, email services, and more. Google’s latest move may be one to counter Microsoft’s Surface Pro hybrid tablet.
The new tablet from Microsoft, which has had enough demand — or short enough supply — to be constantly sold out, is a touchscreen tablet like any other, but it actually runs a full version of Windows 8 Pro, which gives it the combined capabilities of a touchscreen tablet and a full PC all in one package. This makes it a strong contender for the non-casual market.
Now, a close source has said that Google plans to launch a new device that features its Chrome OS — not to be confused with the Android OS that runs on many smartphones and tablets — and will also boast a touchscreen. The combination of touchscreen, keyboard, and fuller operating system makes for a clear competitor to the Surface Pro from Microsoft. But, can it be?
