Wearable tech seems to be the latest craze with the major tech companies. Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is currently working on a wrist-based device to replace the common watch, and Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) has set about reinventing eyeglasses, though in a hilarious display of irony, the one thing that Google’s Glass probably won’t do is correct your vision.
And I do mean the one thing. This new product is so tech heavy, wearers will have trouble remembering where they parked their spaceships.
They look simple enough. A clean, polished design, eagerly hinting of something Geordi Laforge would have worn had Star Trek been made 30 years later. However, their appearance belies their capability.
What Google has done is virtually compact the Internet into a cube that clips on to the rim on the glasses. This cube will project an image in front of the user’s eye — but it won’t interfere with your line of vision. Google was clever enough to design the projection so it is just translucent enough, small enough, and out of the way enough that it won’t be obnoxious.
