Regions Financial Corporation (NYSE:RF): Consumer protection advocates rail against payday loans returning to North Carolina. Regions Financial Corp.’s Ready Advance loans gained the attention of the consumer coalition who argues that the steep interest rates trap low-income in a debt cycle. N.C. law has banned any payday loan shops or Internet services, but federal law lets banks make loans based their home state’s laws. Regions is the 15th-largest bank in the nation, and it has $121.3 billion in assets as of June 30.

Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F): In India, slow growth is harming car sales, according to Bloomberg. The year’s sales growth forecast may be reduced by The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers may for the second time, after it was lowered from about 12 percent to 9 percent during July, which is weak growth in a market that doubled in size from 2008 to 2011, according to Bloomberg Industries data. As European and Chinese sales slow, car makers still search for indications of growth beyond the U.S. market.

Citigroup Inc. (NYSE:C) along with Credit Suisse (NYSE:CS), Fidelity Investments, Bank of America Merrill Lynch (NYSE:BAC), and the estate of Lehman Brothers Holdings have agreed for the settlement of SEC allegations that broker-dealer exBX LLC shared confidential client-trading information with a Citigroup unit, according to the Wall Street Journal.
