FOX’s Cable Ratings RECORD and Stories Affecting These 3 Stocks

Charlie Sheen’s own tantrums and spectacles pay off BIG, as his new sitcom Anger Management on Fox Network’s (NASDAQ:NWS) FX set a cable ratings record for the genre with 5.47 million viewers, and among them are strong numbers in key demographics. Observers believe that if the show can retain its popularity it could drive ratings up and down Fox’s lineup.

Under-funded pension plans of such companies as General Motors (NYSE:GM) and Ford (NYSE:F) could benefit greatly from a provision in the just-passed transportation bill that will permit corporate pension plans to use the average interest rate over the past 25 years, which is of course high, as opposed to the low average of the last 2 years, in the calculation of future returns. Not only will the pension plans of some companies be enhanced by the new legislation, but also will be their profits.

Spectra Energy (NYSE:SE) wins a final okay to construct a $1.2 billion natural gas pipeline linking New York City to the New Jersey network and producing regions across the United States. The firm expects to initiate construction “in the coming weeks”, and the pipeline, which is the first in 40 years to connect NYC to the wider U.S. gas grid, should be completed in the fourth quarter of 2013.

IGI Laboratories (AMEX:IG) announces that it has submitted two additional abbreviated new drug applications to the FDA. The firm now has a total number of eight such submissions.
