Research in Motion (NASDAQ:RIMM): The first BlackBerry device using RIM Ltd.’s new operating system will be a touchscreen and there will be no keyboard. Eventually, the BlackBerry 10 software will be available for devices with keyboards, but RIM spokeswoman Rebecca Freiburger refuses to give a date. The new devices should be available this year.

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) announces its investment of $100M into university research during the next 5 years. Stanford University will be the first to receive funding, and it will focus on Visual Computing. Intel will open the Intel Science and Technology Centers at these educational institutions in order to drive innovation and communication.
JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM): According to a reliable investor, JPMorgan has priced $1B in commercial mortgage-backed securities following changing yield spread premiums reflecting investor preferences for short-term bonds to long-term debt. Yield spreads on the deal’s benchmark 10-year fixed-rate class was raised by the dealer to 150 basis points over interest-rate swap rates, claims the investor. The class was also dropped to $347M from $437M.
Cisco Systems (NASDAQ:CSCO) CEO and Chairman John Chambers announced Wednesday that an effort has begun which should create 12,000 high-tech jobs within the next four years within Israel’s distressed Arabe sector. Chambers claims that this is an expansion of “Ma’antech,” a year-old project begun by major high-tech companies and supported by the Israeli president intending to diminish gaps between Israeli Arabs and Jews.
First Solar (NASDAQ:FSLR) has been approved to continue with plans to construct a solar-energy plant in northern Los Angeles County. This is one of several facilities being built by the firm. The L.A. County Department of Public Works approved solar panels that the company asked to use it in its 230-megawatt plant located in a high-desert area.
