Facebook Prepares for Big Event and 4 Social Media Stocks Seeing Action

Pandora Media, Inc. (NYSE:P): Current Price: $12.10

In order to address its issues regarding mounting royalty costs and a lag in making money from mobile phones, the company announced on Wednesday that it will begin to impose on users a 40-hour monthly limit on its free service on mobile devices. According to Pandora founder Tim Westergren, the average listener spends only 20 hours listening to the service on phones and computers during any given month. During Q3, which ended in October, the company’s amount of active listeners saw a 47 percent rise, but the so-called content-acquisition costs grew about 75 percent. The company also faces issues concerning the growing amount of users on mobile phones, where Pandora has seen a growing audience but does not have the ability to earn the same amount of ad revenue as as on traditional desktop computers, according to the Wall Street Journal.
