Energy Business Roundup: Pioneer Natural Resources’ BARNETT SHALE, NextEra SELLS Equity

Pioneer Natural Resources Company (NYSE:PXD) wants to sell its properties in the Barnett Shale, which the would enable it to strategically reallocate capital to higher-return, core assets in the horizontal Wolfcamp Shale play, Spraberry vertical site, and the Eagle Ford Shale.

NextEra Energy, Inc. (NYSE:NEE) will divest $650 million worth of equity units to Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (NYSE:GS), Barclays PLC (NYSE:BCS) and Citigroup Inc. (NYSE:C). Each unit will be issued in a stated denomination of $50, and will consist of a agreement to purchase shares at prices between $67.15 and $80.58 by September 1, 2015. The units also include a 5 percent undivided beneficial ownership interest in a NextEra debenture which is due in five years.
