The Justice Department has requested that National Oilwell Varco (NYSE:NOV) and Robbins & Myers (NYSE:RBN) send it further information and documents connected to their proposed $2.5 billion merger. This request is in keeping with its oversight duties under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act.

Gevo (NASDAQ:GEVO) wins a United States patent for its platform-separation unit that reduces the production cost of isobutanol. According to the company, the patent gives Gevo a “significant competitive advantage, as it protects the most cost-efficient separation technology available.”

Emerson Network Power, which is a unit of Emerson Electric Co. (NYSE:EMR) reaches a strategic alliance with the regional distributor Mindware in the Middle East and North Africa. The latter will provide critical infrastructure products and solutions from Emerson Network Power to small and medium firms in the region.
