Energy Biz Report: Delta Buys N DAKOTA Oil, Petrobras SUED For Spill

Delta Air Lines, Inc. (NYSE:DAL) intends to transport oil from North Dakota to its recently-purchased Pennsylvania refinery. At current prices the oil is less expensive than the imported product, and thus could affford savings for the carrier so long as conditions hold.

The Carlyle Group (NYSE:CG) is acquiring the North American power generation assets from Goldman Sachs Group Inc.’s (NYSE:GS) Cogentrix Energy. The purchased assets include coal and solar projects in Colorado, Florida, Virginia, and California along with a pipeline of gas and renewable power projects which are under development.

A Brazilian federal prosecutor will bring a criminal case against Petrobras (NYSE:PBR) for allegedly polluting the Atlantic Ocean with fuels from its refinery in Rio de Janeiro State. This case emerges at the same time that Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX) faces civil and criminal charges filed by a different Brazilian prosecutor subsequent to spills at the offshore Frade field, in which PBR is a minority partner.
