The energy minister of Venezuela declares that the inferno which has ceased operations at its largest refinery is “totally extinguished,” but a recent live broadcast by Venezuelan TV did show flames and black smoke emanating from at least one of the fuel storage tanks. Shares of Valero Energy Corporation (NYSE:VLO) are the leading gainer among refineries, and those of Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX) and Exxon Mobil Corportion (NYSE:XOM) are also benefitting.
