Energy Biz Replay: Exxon and Others Export LNG From Qatar, Valero Stops Sales In CA

Qatar’s Golden Pass, which is 70 percent owned by Qatar Petroleum and 30 percent by Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM), is granted permission to export liquefied natural gas from the United States, in what might be the country’s first venture at selling LNG produced overseas. The state now joins firms like Sempra Energy (NYSE:SRE), Cheniere Energy (AMEX:LNG), and Dominion Resources (NYSE:D) in attempts to export American LNG to take advantage of higher prices in other places.

Valero Energy Corporation (NYSE:VLO) has suspended sales of gasoline into the California spot market due to of a product shortage that came from refinery outages in that state. The biggest United States refiner made the move following accidents and maintenance problems that have caused shutdowns at a number of refineries there.
