Broadcom Corp. (NASDAQ:BRCM) was assigned a patent (8,321,570) that was developed by Jeyhan Karaoguz, Irvine, California, and James D. Bennett, Laguna Beach, CA., for a “personal access and control of media peripherals on a media exchange network.”
QUALCOMM Incorporated (NASDAQ:QCOM): The market for mobile communications equipment is expecting to see 13 percent growth during the year, pushed forward by increasing mobile handset and tablet shipments, mainly those supporting the 4G long term evolution, or LTE, wireless standard, according to IHS iSuppli’s prediction. Total factory revenue from original equipment manufacturers making mobile communications equipment is expected to total about $376 billion by the end of the year, which is a rise from $334 billion in 2011, the firm said. Next year, overall revenue for mobile communications equipment is predicted to see an increase to $444 billion, according to the firm.
