Fusion-IO, Inc. (NYSE:FIO): EMC may need to buy Fusion-io if results do not show improvement, states Sterne Agee, who believes that IBM’s (NYSE:IBM) acquisition of flash memory solution provider Texas Memory Systems may drive a second round of consolidation in the storage space. The firm claims that if EMC’s (NYSE:EMC) refresh of VFCache does not show better results for the first half of 2013, the company could be forced to acquire Fusion-io. Additionally, Benchmark Co. thinks that IBM’s acquisition of flash-based storage provider TMS will probably not have a major impact on Fusion-io. The firm also states that if anything, IBM’s deal could influence Hewlett-Packard (NYSE:HPQ) to buy Fusion-io. Recall Sterne Agee stated earlier that EMC could consider acquiring Fusion-io after IBM’s purchase of TMS.
