Undeterred by  a crowded gaming market and Zynga’s dismal Q2 show, e-commerce giant Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) has introduced Living Classics, a “moving object” Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) game out of its new division called Amazon Game Studios. The new gaming foray follows within a month of Amazon’s launch of GameCircle, its social gaming platform for the Kindle Fire tablet.

In an important insight into mobile based e-commerce trends, Nielsen reports that eBay‘s (NASDAQ:EBAY) core Mobile app was used by almost 13.2 million smartphone users through June, making it by far the heaviest used shopping app. More important, the average user spent almost 64 minutes using the app, this being three times that seen on #2 Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) Mobile, which had 12.2 million users and #3 Groupon (NASDAQ:GRPN) with about 11.9 million. The numbers are significant in the context of eBay’s launch of a same-day delivery app, and its forecast that it would handle $10 billion mobile-based transactions this year.
