Consumer Business Review: RadioShack’s Bad Day, Safeway Pulls Peanut Products

This autumn, Barnes & Noble Inc. (NYSE:BKS) intends to introduce a streaming service for its Nook unit that will enable customers to purchase movies and television shows. It’s likely that Nook Video will include content from HBO and Starz, and also join with UltraViolet to allow customers access to their physical and Blu-ray movies.

Shares of RadioShack Corporation (NYSE:RSH) collapse from reports out that the company was only allowed a limited supply of iPhone 5s (NASDAQ:AAPL) that didn’t even equal the number of pre-orders it received. Being delisted by the S&P MidCap 400 Index certainly did not help the situation either.

Cases of salmonella have now been reported in 18 states, which has prompted recalls of peanut butter products at such grocers as Safeway Inc. (NYSE:SWY) and the privately-held Trader Joe’s. The product’s producer Sunland says the recall entails 76 varieties.
