Consumer Business Update: Publishing SETTLEMENT Gives AMAZON A WIN

On Thursday, District Judge Denise Cote okayed an antitrust settlement through which such major publishers News Corporation’s (NASDAQ:NWS) HarperCollins, and CBS’s (NYSE:CBS) Simon & Schuster agreed to end their alleged price-fixing e-book arrangements with Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). The resolution is a significant victory for Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN), but Pearson plc’s (NYSE:PSO) Penguin, Macmillan and Apple intend to take their chances in a trial.
