In auto sales confined to one area (say, China), if one company gains, the others lose. Currently, General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) and German automakers such as Volkswagen A G (VLKAY.PK) and BMW (BAMXY.PK) could indeed gain from the wave of anti-Japan protests that are sweeping across China, while the Japanese Honda Motor Co., Ltd. (NYSE:HMC), and Toyota Motor Corporation (NYSE:TM) might suffer losses of market share. Already, Japanese automakers have reported attacks on dealerships in China, and have reduced their output in the area.
