New Oriental Education & Technology Group, Inc. (NYSE:EDU) shares regain some of the week’s losses, on word that it is forming an independent special committee to review allegations originating in the report issued this week by Muddy Waters.

Twelve persons were killed and dozens wounded earlier Friday in an Aurora, Colorado theater during a showing of The Dark Knight Rises, by a lone shooter. Fearing copycats, Time Warner, Inc. (NYSE:TWX) has cancelled this weekend’s Paris premiere of the film, and police in New York City are providing extra security at theaters. Cinemark Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:CNK) owns the theater where the shooting took place, and its shares have fallen Friday, along with those of Imax Corporation (NASDAQ:IMAX).
Procter & Gamble Co. (NYSE:PG) acquires the remaining 50 percent investment of a joint venture with Spain’s Agrolimen Group at a price of $1 billion, which is a purchase that the former says fits with its strategy shift to concentrate on its largest divisions, includiing feminine-care and baby-care products. Currently, the venture sells products such as Dodot diapers and Kandoo baby wipes in Portugal, Spain, and in other markets.
