Kroger Co. (NYSE:KR) and Safeway Inc. (NYSE:SWY) are attempting to boost their tine margins, by testing customized pricing through which data pulled from loyalty card purchases are used to calculate individualized prices that could lure shoppers to spending more. A subsequent phase might consist of geo-targeting shoppers with coupons based upon their locations within the stores.
