Toyota Motor Corporation (NYSE:TM) hopes to double its sales in Brazil to 200,000 vehicles next year to help offset its slumping European sales, as it foresees growing demand in the South American country as the next World Cup and Olympics are scheduled to be hosted there over the next four years.

India doesn’t give up on its Big Brother dreams, as the government there now says that it knows how to monitor corporate emails sent to and from Blackberry devices, without the need for encryption keys. Research In Motion Limited (NASDAQ:RIMM) claims that only customers have the keys, but this news is troublesome for the company because one of its top attractions is the security of its email system.
McDonald’s Corporation (NYSE:MCD) posts July domestic comparable sales down 0.1 percent, while the same in Europe fell 0.6 percent; and Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa were down by 1.5 percent. Meanwhile, observers suspect that Europe can’t be the sole fly in the ointment, as all three major geographical regions came in under analyst expectations, so using the global economy as a scapegoat doesn’t quite jibe with sales having held up relatively well during the 2008-2009 financial crisis.
The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) says that Joss Whedon, who wrote and directed Disney’s blockbuster The Avengers, has made an exclusive deal with Marvel Studios for work in film and television through the end of June 2015, according to The Los Angeles Times.
