Consumer Business Review: Barnes & Noble PARTNERS With John Lewis, FedEx & UPS BRACE For Isaac

Barnes & Noble Inc. (NYSE:BKS) will employ the United Kingdom retailer John Lewis as part of its plan to sell Nooks in that country. The arrangement will allow customers there an opportunity to touch and feel Nook devices before shelling out their pounds for purchase.

FedEx Corporation (NYSE:FDX) and United Parcel Service, Inc. (NYSE:UPS) are expected to be somewhat impacted by the Tropical Storm (or Hurricane) Isaac, as freight delivery shut down in the coastal areas of four states. Typically, slowly moving large hurricanes have affected the quarterly results of the companies to only a minor degree.

New York State’s Attorney General has served the energy drink sellers PepsiCo Inc. (NYSE:PEP), Monster Beverage Corp. (NASDAQ:MNST) subpoenas requesting additional information as to methods by which energy drinks are marketed and advertised.
