Consumer Business Report: Amazon Cuts E-book PRICES, Kraft BUYS Bimo

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) has reduced its prices on “a broad assortment” of HarperCollins e-books, subsequent to a judge last week okaying an antitrust settlement through which the News Corporation (NASDAQ:NWS) division along with other top publishers made an agreement to end their alleged price-fixing arrangements with Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). In addition, HarperCollins has agreed with other e-retailers to cut prices.

Kraft Foods Inc. (NYSE:KFT) will assume full control of the biscuit maker Bimo from National Investment Company, which is operated by the ruling family of Morocco. The $150 million transaction should close within the next six months, say sources.

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Inc. (NASDAQ:GMCR) shares move up on the day, as additional momentum increases with Luigi Lavazza boosting its investment. The Italian coffee company currently holds a 6.8 percent stake in Green Mountain.
