Consumer Business Review: J.C. Penney’s ACCEPTS Court Decision, Starbucks and Others Plan New MOVES

J.C. Penney & Co. (NYSE:JCP) says that it will abide by a judge’s decision that will disallow Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia (NYSE:MSO) from placing its products in Penney’s stores. The historic retailer says that a lawsuit filed by Macy’s regarding the matter will be made moot because of the decision.

Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ:SBUX), along with McDonald’s Corporation (NYSE:MCD), and Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE:CMG), plus other restaurant chains are now concentrating more on efficiency, arising from new tech or improved worker scheduling, to allow customers to move more rapidly through the lines and thus generate more sales during their busiest hours, according to the Wall Street Journal. Tech innovations such as equipping employees with hand-held ordering systems and urging customers to pay by smartphones are two areas of possibility.
