Consumer Biz Insights: Ford Focus’ RECORD Sales, Time Warner Goes To SCANDINAVIA

Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) has high expectations that its Focus compact model will be able to maintain its hot selling pace and then finish the year as the world’s best-selling car. From January through June, more than 489,000 units of the Focus were sold, compared to 462,000 Toyota Corollas, driven by strong demand in Asia.

Time Warner Inc.’s (NYSE:TWX) HBO is expected to better Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) in getting set up in the Scandinavian countries of Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland, with an on-demand streaming service of its original programming. HBO expects that the service should be running by the end of October, while Netflix’s version will launch sometime before the end of this year.

In a surprise reversal, a judge rejected the injunction against J.C. Penney & Co. (NYSE:JCP) featuring Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc. (NYSE:MSO) shops-within-shops. The decision is a crucial win for the historic retailer, with high-profile, celebrity-flavored shops being key to Ron Johnson’s transformation of the department store.
