Consumer Biz Update: Amazon & Comcast Extend AGREEMENT, Big Tobacco WINS The Day

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) and Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA) have expanded an ongoing licensing arrangement which will add hundreds of NBC television episodes, both old and new, to Amazon Prime Instant Video, giving it an arsenal of more than 22,000 movies and TV episodes.

Tobacco companies in the United States such as Reynolds American, Inc. (NYSE:RAI), Altria Group, Inc. (NYSE:MO), and Lorilard, Inc. (NYSE:LO) won big as a U.S. appeals court overruled a previous court decision which mandated that the companies had to place graphic warning labels on tobacco products, like a law that was recently upheld in Australia. However, this ruling directly contradicts the decision in a similar court case, and the matter might ultimately go to the United States Supreme Court.
