Cisco Has BIG Plans to Give Back

Cisco (NASDAQ:CSCO) will help create 12,000 high-tech jobs in Israel’s distressed Arab sector over the next four years as part of the ongoing Ma’antech project launched by major technology companies and backed by the Israeli president. More than 22 companies have joined the project since its launch a year ago.

Cisco is the main funder, but participants include Google (NASDAQ:GOOG), Intel (NASDAQ:INTC), IBM (NYSE:IBM), and Check Point Software Technologies (NASDAQ:CHKP). Along with Cisco’s announcement on Friday, several new companies, including Cadence Design Systems (NASDAQ:CDNS), OnTarget Communications, and Bezeq, were added to the project.

Arabs make up roughly one-fifth of Israel’s 8 million citizens and are frequently reported to suffer discrimination in the housing and job markets.
