CME Group (NASDAQ:CME) will pay $126 million in cash to acquire  the Kansas City Board of Trade, which specialises as the preferred futures market for hard red winter wheat. CME Group Executive Chairman and President Terry Duffy says: “Building on two rich legacies, the combination of KCBT Hard Red Winter Wheat products with our deep and liquid CBOT Soft Red Winter Wheat futures and options markets will provide new trading opportunities for market participants around the world both on the trading floor and on the screen.”

In a new development, the four Russian oligarchs who control the other half of the joint-venture are reported to have agreed to sell their stake  to Russian oil giant Rosneft for $28 billion. BP, on the other hand,  is also reported to  be close to  sealing a deal with Rosneft for selling its share for $25 billion. The two deals would hand complete control of TNK-BP to Rosneft, and make it the largest listed oil company globally.
