eBay (NASDAQ:EBAY) subsidiary PayPal has introduced a new software development kit for iOS developers that will allow them to better integrate PayPal’s service into iOS-powered devices. Although iOS developers can currently insert PayPal payment buttons into the apps they create for iOS, users are still being redirected through Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) Safari browser in order to complete their transactions. The new SDK lets developers create iOS apps with a PayPal button that will complete the transaction without ever leaving the app.
This SDK update also encompasses PayPal’s card.io capabilities, a technology that lets users pay with a credit card by simply taking a photograph of it with their mobile device.
PayPal’s SDK update will eventually be released for other mobile platforms, but it is currently only available for iOS developers. It should make the experience of paying through iOS apps slightly smoother…
