The BIG Battle Among Apple, Nokia, HTC, and Google

For any mobile-phone manufacturer there is no worse time to launch a smartphone then when the world’s most valuable company, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL), launches its newest iPhone, and Apple, along with Nokia (NYSE:NOK), Google (NASDAQ:GOOG), and HTC Corp. have all announced new products this month.

Today, Apple announced that the iPhone 5 will be unveiled September 12, Nokia launched its Lumia 920, and Google introduced their new Motorola (NYSE:MOT) Razr smartphones.  HTC plans to launch its newest phone on September 19th.

Don’t Miss: iPhone 5: These Sales Expectations Will Blow Your Mind

Exacerbating the current dilemma, HTC, Nokia, and Google’s Motorola will have to fight for market share not only against Apple, but against Samsung Electronics’ already popular Galaxy S3.  Samsung’s Android powered Galaxy poses a threat to the iPhone as well, and Google’s Android holds a larger market share than the iPhone.  However any threats Samsung may poise to the iPhone may be mitigated by the company’s recent patent case loss to Apple.

A report compiled Monday by Topeka Capital Records notes that these companies have made a grave mistake by releasing their smartphones at the same time as Apple’s iPhone 5.

Topeka analyst Brian White wrote an April report, “Driven by an ever expanding portfolio of innovative products, a growing integrated digital grid, unmatched aesthetics and a brand that is able to touch the soul of consumers of all backgrounds, Apple fever is spreading like a wildfire around the world and we see no end in sight to this trend.”

Apple has a huge edge, according to Topeka, one that amounts to a 33 percent market share and a seamless connection between all devices from desktop to iPad.  In comparison, Nokia holds only 6.6 percent of the market share, mired in what the Topeka report termed “morass of their own mediocrity.”  In their estimation, big screens, fancy wireless charging capabilities, and unprecedented features are not likely to steal the attention of loyal Apple customers.
