Broadcom Strikes Deal With Apple and 4 Chip and Big Data Stocks on the Move

Broadcom Corp. (NASDAQ:BRCM): While it is believed that Apple’s 2013 Mac lineup will feature the same designs as their late-2012 counterparts, they are set to include a range of updated internal features and hardware. It has been learned about one such chipset change, the inclusion of 802.11ac networking, that will provide Apple’s updated Mac range with super-fast WiFi connectivity. Sources familiar with Apple’s plans have told The Next Web that Apple has made a deal with chip maker Broadcom Corp. to outfit their new Macs with 802.11ac chips. This will provide a much-needed boost for the standard, which is currently undergoing revisions, as electronics manufacturers look to introduce new consumer products capable of supporting high-speed networks.

QUALCOMM Incorporated (NASDAQ:QCOM): With cloud-based software helping to get clinical trials off the ground faster, goBalto has reeled in $12 million in a new round of financing with backing from wireless giant Qualcomm Incorporated’s Life Fund and others. Their new investor hopes that goBalto’s platform can address the steep rise in the cost of developing new therapies.
