Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC): A general manager from Intel has hosted a pre-show conference and hinted there that the symposium will concentrate mostly on the third-generation ultrabook based on Haswell, while Microsoft’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Windows 8, touchscreen control app and extra-long battery life will be main issues discussed as well, Digitimes reports. Intel shares traded up $0.04 (0.17%) recently at $25.80.

Broadcom Corp. (NASDAQ:BRCM) is aiming for the hybrid TV market in Latin America with a new system-on-a-chip (SoC) for set-top boxes. Shares of the silicon maker traded up $0.26 (0.77%) recently at $34.05.

Seagate Technology PLC (NASDAQ:STX) Chief Financial Officer Pat O’Malley reports that the hard disk drive manufacturer is on the lookout for purchasing smaller rivals in order to stabilize its presence in the solid-state drive field, Reuters reports. Answering questions regarding the company’s interest in OCZ Technology (NASDAQ:OCZ), O’Malley responded, “We look at all technology product providers (for M&A) but what I would say is that on the enterprise SSDs, there’s probably only one of them that really makes any significant money.” Seagate shares traded down $0.30 (0.99%) recently at $30.13.

SanDisk Corp. (NASDAQ:SNDK) reported in July it plans on NAND chip market conditions to get better in the second half of the year. The flash memory manufacturer shares traded up $0.04 (0.10%) recently at $41.21.

VMware, Inc. (NYSE:VMW): Quanta chairman Barry Lam sold shares in his company recently for around $150 million, and purportedly could employ that money for investment in VMware using his name, Digitimes reports based on notebook industry sources. Shares of VMware traded down $1.33 (1.44%) recently at $91.04.
