British Airways reported that it has taken delivery of its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner, with arrival in the United Kingdom pushed back for unspecified operational matters, which contributed to delays after a global three-month grounding of the jet. The first two planes had been due in May. The deliveries form part of a $7.7-billion fleet upgrade; British Airways is replacing planes that are less fuel efficient with additional Boeing 777 long-haul jets and the Airbus SAS A380, which debuts July 4. Spokesman Tony Cane said in an email that “We expect our first two 787s to arrive at Heathrow within the next few days.”
