Big McNews: McDonald’s to Install iPads

McDonald's iPad StationMcDonald’s (NYSE:MCD) has introduced yet another new way to attract customers into its restaurants.  As if its globally recognized items like the Big Mac, Quarter Pounder, and famous French fries – and newer but popular options like the McCafe line of coffee drinks – weren’t enough, the fast-food mega-giant is now installing Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPads in select locations.

“It’s a great idea to stay relevant, especially to a new generation,” said Hugh Fard, who owns 12 McDonald’s restaurants in the U.S. and originally put forward the idea after hearing some locations in Europe were starting to incorporate the iPad stations.

McDonald’s hopes the new additions will bring more busy consumers in by offering them the ability to multitask while enjoying their lunches.  With the iPads, customers can check their Facebook and Twitter accounts, play games, update their fantasy sports rosters, and even shop online.
