Back to School: Apple Woos Education Market With New Webpage
As part of its continuing effort to increase its footprint in the education market, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) has launched a new “Apple and Education” page on its website just in time for the beginning of the school year. The page touts the educational benefits of its devices, including iOS accessibility features for special needs students.
The page also features testimonials from teachers that use Apple’s devices and apps to enhance the learning experience in their classrooms. Not surprisingly, the iPad and Mac are the most prominently featured devices on Apple’s new promotional page.
CFO Peter Oppenheimer recognized the importance of these educational products in Apple’s third quarter earnings call. “Our U.S. education institution business had a great quarter generating its highest quarterly revenue ever. The results were fueled by all-time record quarterly iPad sales of 1.1 million units in addition to strong June quarter Mac sales,” noted Oppenheimer.
