Apple’s HQ Plans Hit a Snag and 2 Tech Titans on the Move

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has intentions to build a spaceship-like headquarters, but the plan is facing difficulties, according to a new report. The construction the new Apple headquarters, located in Cupertino, Calif., possibly could not be completed until mid-2016, Bloomberg said today, citing an updated proposal filed with the city. The previous proposal would have had Apple breaking ground this year, but the city of Cupertino probably will not finish its environmental impact survey until June, which may delay the the ground breaking to 2014.

Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG): It is possible that the Federal Trade Commission could lack enough evidence of harm to consumers to continue with an antitrust claim against Google’s specialty, search, Bloomberg reported. The company must face antitrust investigations from the U.S. FTC and from the European Commission, which both have continued for several months and both brought with them the possibility to cause a debacle regarding Google’s search business. The problem is derived from whether or not Google provides unfair prominence to its own properties , like YouTube, Google Flight Search, Google Images, Google Shopping, Google Maps, and more, causing harm to other businesses. Regulators are uncertain if they have the amount of evidence needed for an antitrust lawsuit, and the have begun to consider whether or not consumer benefits of Google’s search approach outweigh harm to competitors, Bloomberg reported, citing three unnamed sources.

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC): Creative Labs will sell parts of its graphics chip wing, named ZiiLabs, to Intel for a total of $50 million (Great British Pound 31.4 million). Under the deal, Intel is to pay $30 million for “certain engineering resources and assets” from ZiiLabs’ UK operation, and $2 million more for “the licensing of certain technologies… relating to ZiiLabs’ high performance GPU technology”.
