Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) may have lost market share in smartphone and tablet shipments in the last year, but the company was still the top manufacturer when it came to mobile ad impressions. Main rival Samsung (SSNLF.PK) came in second for the second year in a row, according to Millennial Media’s annual Mobile Device Index report.
Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) entered Millennium’s top 15 for the first time with a 1.08 percent share that put it in the 11th place. According to the report, the popularity of the Kindle Fire tablet grew throughout 2012, and it was the third largest tablet on this platform each quarter.
The ad impression share of Apple, which launched the iPhone 5, the iPad mini, and iOS 6 last year, increased to 31.2 percent of the Top 15 on Millennial Media’s platform, up from 26.4 percent in 2011.
