Apple is Pulling This Product From Europe

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) will stop selling its Mac Pro desktop line in Europe starting March 1 because of new regulatory requirements in the region. The company announced the decision in a letter to resellers, according to MacRumors.

“As of March 1, 2013, Apple will no longer sell Mac Pro in EU, EU candidate, and EFTA countries because these systems are not compliant with Amendment 1 of regulation IEC 60950-1, Second Edition which becomes effective on this date,” the letter said. “Apple resellers can continue to sell any remaining inventory of Mac Pro after March 1.”

In a media statement released on Thursday, Apple added that the regulatory issue was related to the large fans within the computer, which are unprotected. The amendment necessitate fan guards and increased protection on the ports on the electrical system, it said.

“The Mac Pro met the previous standards prior to the amendment 1 addition. Obviously it’s a very safe and very reliable product,” the company said.
