Established patent troll NovelPoint Tracking has filed a lawsuit against Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL), accusing the iPhone maker of violating its navigation-tracking patent through GPS and car-location technologies on mobile devices. Interestingly, the lawsuit does not claim direct infringement, but contends that Apple contributes to infringement by third parties, including its affiliates, agents, and customers.
According to NovelPoint, Apple’s mobile devices assist in infringements on a patent titled “Method and Apparatus for an Automatic Vehicle Location, Collision Notification, and Synthetic Voice.”

Earlier this month, a jury ruled that Apple’s FaceTime technology infringed on patents owned by intellectual property firm VirnetX and awarded the latter $368 million in damages.
